Interdisciplinary Research Institute for the Study of (In)Equality

The Interdisciplinary Research Institute for the Study of (In)Equality (IRISE) was established in 2013 by the University of Denver to serve as the intellectual home for faculty and students to engage in the development of cutting-edge interdisciplinary research on issues of inequality, social justice, and inclusivity.

IRISE has expanded the university’s ability to work at the intersections between and within historically minoritized communities. Through a postdoctoral fellowship and community scholar program, faculty and student research and creative work faculty grants, and as a convener and connector to university expertise in and out of the classroom, IRISE is committed towards substantively understanding and addressing racial inequity in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West.
